As part of a good book proposal, one must identify one’s target reader. Memoir is a crowded category, I’m told, but I believe a lot of women — and men — might benefit from reading the story of my failed marriage.
Still, the danger of a memoir is that only the author and a few people related to the author will care. In the interest of imagining the vast readership for my manuscript, here’s one way to look at it:
